My first haiku
Old resentment burns
Surprising even me; so
Palpable and strong

Haiku: A strict form of Japanese poetry consisting of 3 lines.

Format:
First Line 5 Syllables
Second Line 7 Syllables
Third Line 5 Syllables

Perfect in format and perfect in substance!!! You get a gold star for the day! (Oh if I could just give you a noogie!)

One of my new year's resolutions was to stop receiving "noogies" from strangers.

Thank you. The events leading up to the writing of the haiku were alcohol-fueled, so in retrospect I found that things weren't nearly as extreme as I had originally thought. And the person about whom I wrote the haiku knew immediately that it was directed at him, so the ruse of haiku didn't quite work for me. :)

I wrote my first haiku in December. If you're like me, you'll find it's addictive. I've had resentments like that but not for many years now. "Palpable" is a well-chosen word.

I have to admit, getting dissed in haiku form is not nearly as bad as getting dissed by normal means. Notice the word "normal."

I notice it. Is it going to get up and do a number?
